Free Money Giveaway on Campus!

Not everyone realizes that free money is available to them – through scholarships.

The titled of this article may be a little misleading, but scholarships are widely available on campus. The image below is a screenshot of the ARCC scholarship webpage, which explains that throughout the 2015-2016 school year, 75 students applied for scholarships at the Cambridge campus and 70 scholarships were awarded. That means that scholarship applicants have a 93% chance of receiving a scholarship.

That statistic also means that not very many students (only 70!) at Cambridge campus are applying for scholarships.

When asked if he had applied for any scholarships, one anonymous student responded with, “No. I don’t have time.”

What most students don’t know is that while scholarships can be time-consuming to apply for, some can also take as little as five minutes.

Scholarships are a path to easy money that many students don’t seem to be taking advantage of around campus. However, some students do see the advantages of scholarships.

Another student, Tanner Harms, answered that he does plan on applying for scholarships. “I need money for college,” Harms explained.

Julie Beenken, soon to be student senate president at ARCC Cambridge campus, said, “Yes, I applied for the Spring Scholarship. They help pay for school.”

When choosing to apply for scholarships, be aware that the deadlines require students to plan in advance. The deadline to apply for scholarships for the fall 2016 semester has passed (it was March 15), but students looking to help fund their tuition for the spring 2017 semester are able to view available scholarships starting in September and will need to apply by October 15.
