E-Club Creates an “Electric Forest” for Halloween
By Alex Bender
As we close in on our next holiday, let’s take a moment to reflect on the last one here at the college. This past October the Cambridge Campus E-Club had its annual Halloween Dance. On the night before Halloween the campus was opened up to all people of the community. There was music and dancing and decorations and even a few contests. All in all, it was a great night for the E-Club and Cambridge as a whole.
One of the things that was so great about this event was how it brought together so many clubs together. The E-Club did most of the set up but many other clubs contributed to making it the night that it was. Spanish club had a booth about the Day of the Dead and also did face painting for all those who wanted it. Literacy Club did readings of spooky stories before each event to set the mood. The Drama Club helped add a whole new dimension to the event by creating a Haunted Hallway that students could walk through and get scared by their actors in terrifying attire. Even the Psychology Club and Journalism Club joined in, taking pictures of the event and the attendees who wanted pictures to remember a very memorable night.
Throughout the night the E-club had many contests with prizes for the winners. Things got exciting with the dance contest on the floor that the E-Club built up from scratch and everyone got to see the sweet and savory moves of those who entered the contest. The costume contest, on the main stage, had many contestants wowing the crowd with the creative and interesting costumes they had.
The last event of the night was the Feast of Fear. In this contest people had to eat weird and frightening foods such as baby squids and even cow stomach! After each event was finished the music would start up again and the students, staff, and members of the community would go back to dancing the night away.
The theme of the dance was “Electric Forest” and you could see it all around the dance. The E-Club used tress, vines, and stands they made themselves to create a vision of a dark forest illuminated by electric light and pumping sound.
As you neared the main dance floor you were surrounded by tall trees draped in light and filled up with the music as you stepped onto the dance floor and lost yourself in the magic of the night. As things came to close on the biggest turnout the E-Club has seen in the history of the event, the scenery was taken down and the last songs faded away as the Cambridge Campus returned to normal and E-Club began to look towards their next big event and think of how’ll they’ll be bringing even more great experiences to our community next time.
