Wed. Jan. 28: RAMS LOSE

Riverland 69         ARCC 63

The women could not leave Riverland with a win last Wednesday but it is not a big step back for the team. The first half had its ups and downs but the Rams looked good going into halftime with a seven-point lead. Each team had made significant runs back and forth but ARCC ended the half with a solid run, pushing them ahead. As a whole the Rams played good defense as they held Riverland to just 35 percent shooting in the game. The start to the second half was not a good one though. Riverland came in hot and built themselves their own lead. Right when ARCC got back into the game Riverland would respond with a few straight buckets.  The Rams lost the turnover battle and in the end could not complete the last-minute comeback. Mataya Racek led the Rams with 28 points and also added 12 rebounds. Racek also played all 40 minutes of the game. The Rams can get there revenge when Riverland comes to town Feb. 21.

Sat. Jan. 31: RAMS WIN

    ARCC 98          Minnesota State 59

The Rams were on-point this game and it led to a complete blowout against Minnesota State. In the beginning both teams were toe to toe and it looked like it would be a close one. After that the Rams found their fire. They scored 14 straight points which got them out to a comfortable lead. The team would never look back. The Rams made 11 three-pointers in the first half alone and ended the game with a total of 14. The lead grew to a margin of 42 at one point and that’s pretty much where the lead stayed. The women shot 44 percent from the field and about 33 percent behind the arc. Hannah Norton led the team with 21 points as she only shot three-pointers, converting on seven of eighteen. Mataya Racek added 18 points and eight rebounds as her hot hand continued. Maya DeLao contributed as well putting in 16 points off a great eight of eleven shooting. This was a great morale win for the team as they are trying to put something together for the last month of the regular season. The team plays on their home court against St. Cloud Tech on Wed., Feb. 4.
