Blood Drive on Coon Rapids Campus Tuesday Nov 4th

Every two seconds someone in the US needs a blood transfusion. Many hospitals go through hundreds of gallons of blood a day. Red blood cells have a shelf life of only 42 days and platelets just five days, so they must be replenished constantly.
Only about 8% of people who are eligible actually donate. Donors need to be at least 17 years old, or 16 years old with a signed Red Cross parental/guardian consent form for whole blood where state permits. They also must weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Some states may require doctor approval for those over the age of 75.
The blood drive at Anoka Ramsey Community College Tuesday, November 4th is hoping to get at the least 70 pints of blood or more. There are sign up spots around the school to get a scheduled time to donate. You can also donate double red cells if you meet the qualifications.
